Attach Screws Firmly to Screwdriver

January 9, 2026 · user

Have you ever struggled getting screws started? Lost a screw? Had screws that were too small for your fingers to hold? Here is a simple, cheap solution to all of these problems. It is the best way I have found to hold and screw in screws. All it requires is a bit of heat shrink tubing (I recommend something thinner like the Chicago Electric tubing from Harbor Freight vs. something like EverStart that is thicker and harder to work with for this specific use case). You can even reuse the tubing for the same screws when you don’t need to heat shrink the part attached to the drill bit or screwdriver by removing the tubing from the driver and pushing the next screw through the backend of the heat shrink tape. Every once in a while you might need to heat it up again, but only if it stretches out too much.
